Montville Adolescent Center has expanded its specialized programs for teenagers struggling with substance use and mental health disorders in response to a growing youth crisis across the region. The expansion broadens access to a continuum of care designed specifically for adolescents and their families at a time when demand for age-appropriate treatment continues to climb.
The expanded Montville Adolescent Center addiction treatment services include multiple
levels of care ranging from medical detoxification and residential inpatient programs to partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and dedicated alumni and aftercare support. The center treats dependence on substances including alcohol, marijuana, oxycodone, Xanax, Percocet, fentanyl, opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines, and synthetic drugs.
Alongside its addiction programming, the center provides treatment for anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as dual diagnosis care for adolescents facing both substance use and mental health conditions at the same time. The clinical approach incorporates individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, recreational therapy, and eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing.
Rising rates of substance use and mental health challenges among young people have placed increased pressure on treatment providers nationwide. The expansion at the Montville Adolescent Center in Towaco, New Jersey addresses this need by increasing capacity for adolescents who require structured, developmentally appropriate care rather than programs designed for adults.
"Adolescents experience addiction and mental health struggles differently than adults, and they need care built around their specific developmental stage," said Joshua Scott of Montville Adolescent Center. "The expansion allows the center to reach more families at a point when timely intervention can change the course of a young person's life."
The center also offers virtual counseling for clients who are unable to attend in person, extending support beyond the physical facility. This option is intended to reduce barriers to care for families managing transportation, scheduling, or geographic limitations.
"Families often do not know where to turn when a teenager is in crisis," Scott added. "Broadening the range of services means more adolescents can access the level of care that fits their situation, whether that involves detoxification, residential treatment, or ongoing outpatient support."
To help families navigate the process, the center provides admissions and insurance assistance, working with a range of insurance providers and offering online insurance verification. The center coordinates with plans including Allied Trades Assistance, Cofinity, Community Health Options, Compsych, Contigo, Lower Hudson Valley, Mines and Associates, Ovation Health, and Teamster Center Services Fund, among others.
